Build Muscle At Any Age
You can start working out over the age of 40 but you must pay attention to a few things about your body first. I’m certain you recognize that as we get older our bodies begin to change and what we did as youngsters we can’t do today. It becomes harder to recover from our workouts because of our slower metabolism.This doesn't mean that we can't start a muscle building workout routine just because we aren't as young as we once were. It does mean that getting into shape and building muscle must be approached from a different perspective.
Diet
All things being equal our diet is the first thing we need to change. Our overall health is a direct response to the foods we eat. In order to have the energy we must have to fuel our workouts we must limit the high fat low nutrient foods we regularly eat It is so simple. start eating all natural whole foods and stop eating the processed sugary fat loaded foods. You will notice your body responding with an increased measure of vitality and vigor as you begin consuming more fresh vegetables and fruits. You will continue to be healthy as long as you maintain this approach to eating.

Warm up Exercises
When you begin to start weight lifting it is important to start slowly. Any muscle building routines must include plenty of warm up time and plenty of rest time. A warm up of 15 minutes is a good way to help avoid injuries. I choose to ride the stationary bike for ten minutes so my body and muscles are warmed up and less inclined to injury. After your muscle building workout it is important to rest so your body can recoup. When we were young we could go out at night and be fine the next day, not anymore. In order to be successful we have to learn and live by these facts.
My muscle building workout should include doing exercises that workout the entire body instead of individual body parts. To aovid injury I like to use body weight exercises and machines as an alternative to free weights. This decision should be based on your overall physical condition. If you are at ease with using free weights then by all means go ahead and do it. At the start it is a great idea to only workout three times a week. To help build stamina and endurance you should also do cardio when you can. You can do as little cardio as you like, it is just important that you do some.
Snap A Picture
Do you require a great incentive? Take a picture of yourself at the beginning of your muscle building workout and then take a photo at the end of each month. If you don't know where you were you won't know how far you have advanced. Your friends and family will want to get in shape as well when they see your progress. It's my conjecture that after several you will be shocked and amazed at the transformation your body has gone through. To look and feel better you must stay motivated and consistent in your training.
Use a program that compliments your particular body type. The program i have been using meets all the criterion for my particular needs. I am over 40 and I’m in awesome shape. There is no reason you can't do it also.
