Well if you are following the wrong routine with the wrong philosophy to training, you would be correct. That being said there are many people out there that do accomplish this each and every year and no, they are not just professional bodybuilders. They are normal people who given time and the correct training methodologies achieve their targeted training outcomes every year. To give you an idea of what I am talking about, consider the following training principles that are commonly believed cornerstones of virtually every 3day workout routine.
If you want to cut then use light weight for high repetitions or to bulk use heavy weights with low repetitions. First off a muscle can only grow if you subject it to overload. I am sure you have heard that before. Now hear this. Your body can only do one of four things. Gain or lose fat and gain or lose muscle. You are either bulking up during your 3day workout routine or you are cutting. The only way to get muscle is to smash out heavy sets with maximum repetitions to force your muscle to grow. Then the only thing left is to reduce your body fat percentage to reveal the muscle. That is it. You cannot tone a fat arm! You either get rid of the fat or build the muscle bigger. It is these little nuances that can completely reverse all your training efforts in a 3day workout routine. If you are one degree off, trust me after one year that will be a huge difference.
