Water
The most important factor of the human body is water. You need water to live – if you go three days without any water you will probably die. When your body is put through a rigorous routine such as exercise then the need for water is increased. Your body needs water in order to sweat, to regulate temperature, to process nutrients – water is used for almost all processes in the body. If you deprive your body of water then the likelihood is you will become ill and in some cases die.
Dehydration is a serious condition and you need to be sure that you keep your body fresh and awake if you are planning on working out everyday. Water is the key to a healthy body and healthy skin. It is said that you should drink 8 glasses of water a day to be healthy – that’s about 2 litres. If you’re working out then you should probably aim for about 10 glasses a day in order to keep your body hydrated and well.
Water makes up 60% of your body weight and is the principle chemical in your body. If you exercise you will sweat and this means you are losing water. You should always try to top up your fluids by drinking water steadily when you have finished exercising. It really depends on how much exercise you are doing. If you are working out for a short time each day then about an extra glass or two will suffice but if you are working out for longer i.e. running a marathon or any activity which lasts longer than an hour, you should try to replace about 4 glasses – it’s common sense – if you sweat a lot then you will need to replace this water throughout the day.
