Can Antidepressants be Used as Tranquilizers? Yes, But Only on Prescription

Whenever there is a mention of depression cure, antidepressants are the first thing that comes into mind. Antidepressants are the most prescribed form of depression cure. However, a very serious issue with the antidepressants is the issue of side effects. Antidepressants, inspite of being strictly prescribed drugs, run the risk of being abused. Drug abuse in case of antidepressants is an issue that has not been totally overcome inspite of all the efforts from several quarters. Illegal sale and purchase of antidepressants still takes place almost everywhere in the world. Today antidepressants are also available in the online pharmacies. Depression drugs like xanax are making great profits by having presence both in the online and the offline markets. This joint presence has enabled people to buy xanax and other antidepressants online who for some reason find it difficult to purchase these drugs offline. However, in order to buy xanax online the prescription is a must, a step that is extremely necessary to put a halt to the illegal sale of antidepressants, online. In addition whether the xanax benefits will suit a person or not can only be decided by a medical professional.

The factor that is primarily responsible for the drug abuse of the antidepressants is that invariably all the antidepressants contain tranquilizing effects. It is because of this effect that antidepressants are misused by people. As soon as people start getting addicted to this aspect of the drugs it becomes very difficult for them to stay away from them. For example here we are talking about the antidepressant xanax. Once people start getting habituated to the addictive aspect of the drug xanax withdrawal might become a difficult issue.

The tranquilizing effect of the antidepressants is not a side effect. In a majority of times doctors prescribe antidepressants as tranquilizers. However, when doctors do so, they do it after weighing all the pros and cons of the drug and deciding whether the tranquilizing effect of the drug would suit the patient. The difficulty comes when patients start taking antidepressants on their own to cure either their depression or their difficulty in getting sleep, or for any other reason.

In some cases it happens that a certain antidepressant becomes popular as an effective tranquilizer and it also turns out to be safe to a majority of the people; as a result it comes to be sold and purchased without prescription assuming that it will be safe for one and all. Before they realize people become habituated to the drug, or rather addicted and it starts getting increasingly difficult for them to think of existence without the aid of that particular antidepressant. It is extremely important that people realize that the tranquilizing effect of the antidepressants turns out to be a boon only when it is taken on prescription, otherwise there are high chances that these aspects of an antidepressant turn out to be a bane.
