Meditation techniques are many and varied.  Thanks to modern technology like the Internet, we able to learn about hundreds of different types in a very short time.

Sometimes this leaves us confused about which one is the best.  Well, all meditation techniques are good, but are they all good for you?  Only ‘you’ can answer the question, “which one is best for me”.

One popular form of meditation technique is TM, or Transcendental Meditation.
TM was devised in the 1950s by a yogi named Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and was made internationally popular because the famous British band The Beatles went to India to immerse themselves in the practice.

Of course, you don’t need to fly all the way around the world to enjoy the benefits of this meditation technique.  The technique prides itself on its simplicity and effortlessness.  In just 20 minutes a day, practitioners of this technique claim to reap all of its rewards.  There are several websites and several centers around the world where you can learn how to integrate this particular meditation into your life.

Other popular meditation techniques are Vipasana, Zen, mindfulness and Taoist meditation methods.  Like TM, the basics can be learned through books, however, most people find that their practiced is enhanced manifold by undergoing some sort of personal, one-on-one training with an adept meditator.

If one chooses one particular technique and then finds that another suits him or her better, there is no harm in changing.  The important thing is to find what works for you and then stick with it to reap the long-term benefits and results.
