Natural Anxiety Treatment - Look, No Drugs

Last week my friend had to take her son who is about forty years old to the emergency room at her local hospital - luckily very close to home. Diagnosis- a panic or anxiety attack and the most alarming symptom was that he felt that he couldn't breathe. Well, the good news is that the medications he was given made him feel so bad that he threw them out last night! The anxiety attacks are continuing but at least he feels that there is no need to have to put up with the awful side effects of the medications. He realized, wisely, that these meds were not going to solve the cause of his anxiety and neither were they a long term solution. Time to look for a natural anxiety treatment.

Before we look at treating anxiety naturally, I would like to point some of the side effects of anxiety medications such as benzodiazepines, and newer options like antidepressants and beta-blockers. The benzodizepines are best known by their brand names such as Valium and Xanax. My friend's son said that he felt so spaced out that it was unbelievable and side effects ranged from slurred speech, dizziness and being clumsy and feeling disorientated. He just felt he could not function at all and his work began to suffer. He knew that there must be a natural anxiety treatment. That was why he threw out the medications last night!

Simple changes in lifestyle and learning a few simple techniques can go a long way towards a natural anxiety treatment which is not going to leave you feeling like a zombie. Exercise and exposure to some sunlight on a regular basis can get all the feel good endorphins going in your brain and that alone is going to make you feel more relaxed and serene. Even eating lots of fresh fruit and vegetables can help your brain to increase its serotonin levels which is great mood booster. Did you know that the smell of fresh orange zest can stimulate your brain chemicals and boost serotonin? Learning to breathe properly and deeply is a great technique too and can save you from a visit to the emergency room.

Imagine being able to leave home without the worry of an anxiety attack while you are on the bus and being able to plan outings and enter into relationships without the stress or fear that overwhelming anxiety may make you powerless to act like a normal human being. As well as lifestyle changes, a natural anxiety treatment such as a herbal remedy is now gaining so much popularity in the USA that millions of anxiety sufferers are treating anxiety naturally.
