Seven Helpful Tricks For Talented ADHD Adults

Every adult who suffers from ADHD or ADD has a special unique talent.  The trick is to find it and use it to achieve important goals.

If you sometimes worry that Attention Deficit Disorder or ADHD will hold them back, then there’s no need to worry.  Everyone has a special unique talent or ability that they possess, and once you know what that is, then you are able to help them reach their goals.  This trick is to identify these hidden talents and passions and put them to good work.

Here is 7 helpful tips that will help the adult ADHD/ADDer focus on their strengths:-

1. Find what you are good at and do it

Everyone will find that they are good at some things but not others.  It’s more productive to focus on improving your strengths rather than on focusing on your weaknesses.  When you find yourself doing something that you’re not particularly good at, find someone else to work with, be it a family member or a coach to help you find a coping strategy that helps you become ‘good enough’.

2.  Stay in touch with friends regularly

Good friends and acquaintances are an essential part of your happiness.  Friends can provide an excellent support network.

3. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice

Life can be stressful and filled with ups and downs, but there is no need to go it alone.  Know which one of your friends or family member you can trust and confer with them on a regular basis – especially when you are having problems.  Remember we all need someone to lean on!

4. Get enough things organized.

This doesn’t mean that you have to have everything perfectly organized – perfect files, no clutter.  That’s hard for most people and probably a big waste of time.  You only need to be organized enough so that disorganization doesn’t get in your way.

5.  Do something creative

Find something that you enjoy doing to release some of your creativity.  What’s your hobby? Music? Painting? Writing? It doesn’t matter what it is but it makes life that more interesting and fulfilling when you are doing something that brings you joy.

6. Learn to delegate

If you are faced with a daunting task or responsibility that you find exceptionally challenging or difficult, ask someone else to do it for you in exchange for doing something for them.

7. Remain optimistic

We all have our dark and negative days, and it’s OK to feel down sometimes.  Just remember to make a decision to not let it ‘ruin your life’ and to only let yourself feel negative for a short time before deciding to return to your positive side.  This can be achieved by playing some uplifting music that makes you feel good, taking the dog for a walk, or giving someone a call that always make you feel good.
