Stress, Three Ways to Solve Stress

Sometimes I long for the old days. The days when people still had time. Father went to his job and mom stayed at home. Nowadays we never have enough time anymore. We are busy and we are stressed. But sometimes I remember how it used to be. I found three easy ways to solve stress.

Like many of us I am a working mom. I used to rush cooking the food for my family. I used to get stressed and rush housecleaning. My mind already thinking about what is next to do. I know now that is not the right way. It gave me even more stress.

So, here is my first way to solve stress. Take time to cook dinner. Maybe you cook hastily and you are happy when dinner is ready. This is my advice: Change your attitude and start to love cooking. It is important to keep your mind on what you are doing. You may have to learn this again. Look at the food. Look at the knife. Force yourself to keep your mind on the food. If you find that difficult, visualize the journey your food has made before it reached your kitchen. See how the vegetables were growing in sunshine and rain. Teach yourself to keep your thoughts on what you are doing.

The second way to solve your stress also involves housekeeping. Like most of us, you are probably not very fond of cleaning your house. You think you don't really have time to clean it nicely and thoroughly. Or you do a good cleaning job, but your thoughts are in another tine and place. My advice to you: Take you vacuum cleaner and clean the house. Keep your mind on that job. Make your movements slowly and clean thoroughly. Stay in the here and now. That way, it is really relaxing!

The third way to solve your stress is to paint your house. Research on this subject has revealed that doing a repeated exercise slows down your blood pressure and heartbeat. Your breath becomes more even and restful. Feelings of stress will disappear. For maximum relief, give your full attention to the paint job. Move the paintbrush slowly up and down. Keep your mind on painting.

You will be surprised how relaxing it is to do household chores with attention. You will understand a bit of how life used to be. And of course there is another advantage to these exercises. Your house will always be beautiful and clean. Your dinner will be healthy and tasty and you'll eat in a clean peaceful area. And that is a good way to keep away stress.

So how about sharing a feeling of Friendliness or Maitri with other people with the same generosity we show when sharing our bad mood! Osho says very wisely that if it is difficult to share friendly feelings with people, start with nature. Be friendly to the sun, moon, stars, trees, plants and animals. Its much easier.
