To Alter Your Consciousness And The World’S… Spread Positive Energy

Ways to alter consciousness. Hmmm. A tricky thought. For life is very complicated in this day and age, is it not?

If you're like me, you have a lot on your plate. You are working three jobs- looking for the one that will finally inspire you and also pay you what you deserve. You are working, paying bills, cleaning the house, quite possibly a single mom or dad, doing the laundry, buying the food. Perhaps you are fighting as I am for custody of your children. Perhaps you love someone with an addiction- or some other problem- which complicates life even more. (www.secondhandaddiction.blogspot.com) And like me, you probably wish you had a lot more time to devote to your children.

I'm guessing that many of you can relate.

Now I happen to know it is supremely important to maintain a positive outlook- especially in the midst of crisis. I know that in order to be my most powerful self I cannot bask in the luxury of self pity or negative thoughts. I know I cannot do this because negative will breed ever more negative, and fear will breed ever more of whatever you fear. This is the Law of Attraction. And also, I think it is common sense.

Still we are all human, and sometimes I struggle with how to remain truly positive. This is especially true in this time of ‘no time'- where it is tough to find a few minutes to meditate, listen to hypnotherapy CDs, or even go to the gym. All of these, by the way, are excellent tools that I highly recommend.

Now the whole conversation here is about ways to alter consciousness, or the way I think and feel at any given moment. So I thought to myself recently, what could I do throughout my day to keep myself positive? Of course affirmations came to mind, since they are very handy and can be said aloud or to yourself. So I sat down and wrote up a personalized set of affirmations to say during my day, and I put them in my car, near my bed, and in my work bag in order to have them handy at any time. Now I spent a lot of time thinking of what affirmations I needed right now- but you can also get excellent affirmations at Barnes and Noble by the renowned guru of affirmations, Louise Hay.

So one day I sat at my station at work waiting for someone to come by. I was feeling dragged out. So I pulled out my paper and said my affirmations to myself. Now sometimes I have needed clear out the negative before trying to be positive. (Clearing out is important and different than dwelling on it- but we'll discuss that another time.) But this time, although I did not feel the spirit of the affirmations. I said them anyway. Pretty soon I began to feel better. After a while I got brave and told them to some of the other employees nearby. We got to talking and pretty soon they were feeling better. Soon after I spoke about them to a customer in line. We started talking and she began to feel better. She vowed to get back to her own spiritual practices. So the more I said those affirmations, the more I spoke about them, the more we all felt better. And the good feeling spread.

How amazing is the power of the positive? It spreads like a flood, and douses the wildfire of all that is negative. So as you follow your path, do not forget the power of simple positive thoughts and affirmations. Whether you believe them or not in the moment, they will impact you and the world around you if they are used.

And in this day and age please especially spread the positive in the area of money and the economy. In this way, as President Obama says, "yes we can" change our world. http://waystoalterconsciousness.blogspot.com
