Regular retail sales include the sale of products, but the income from a downline is not included. The inclusion of this revenue stream by a multi level marketing system means more ways to make income than just traditional sales. It can also add up to passive income if enough downline members are recruited. This can mean increased time off while still maintaining the same level of income being brought in from the business. This possibility is what often brings people into multi level marketing and diverse income streams.
