Do you want to make money in your MLM business day after day? Most people do not know the secret to it. Actually, it is not too complicated. Read on to find out how.
You make money in MLM from adding new distributors or from adding new retail customers. Which one should you prefer? Let’s look at the options.
Adding new distributors
AKA recruiting, this is the most advocated method. Large training enterprises have sprung up around this, such as Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring, Ann Sieg’s Renegade Network Marketer and Dani Johnson’s programs, to name just a few. These are all working well, if you feel you have the expertise and confidence to recruit your leads over the phone. And you also need to have a training program that can bring your new distributors into profit quickly, within a month. If not, they will drop out.
The advantage is the higher bonus, if they sign up with a more expensive business package. The disadvantage is that your commission on their ongoing sales is initially quite small and does not generate a viable part-time income.
Adding retail customers
This is somewhat discouraged by up-line leaders, because often they do no receive a bonus on these sales. However, your own commission may be substantially higher, around 20% or so. So, if you can get them on autoship, your higher retail commission comes in month after month. Within a year, your total return will exceed that from recruiting a distributor.
A second advantage is that retail customers are easier to keep. If you have done your product marketing well, they joined you for your leadership and the benefits they are getting from your product. Follow up on their success, and they will be with you for a long time.
From retail income to residual income
As you can see, by marketing your product to retail customers you can build a stable customer base that generates money for you month after month. As your organization grows, keep in touch with your customers, for example by teleseminars. Some of them will become motivated to join you as distributors. You will teach them the same marketing strategies that made you money, and they will stay with you.
Now your distributors are having success and are generating residual income for you. The whole recruiting problem has solved itself, by this one simple strategy: Add retail customers first.

Check out your compensation plan, what your returns are for distributors and retail customers. If the retail approach will work for you, start to implement it. Become an expert about the benefits of your product, locate your target market, and craft a compelling message.
