Success is contagious: success and of course failure are contagious. If you associate yourself with successful people long enough, it will rub off on you. You begin to imbibe successful habits and you inevitably become successful in whatever you do.
You can curry favours: in our world today, the real truth is that most people like taking instead of giving. Consequently, there are few leaders and many followers. When you are around successful individuals, you can get favours from them and more often than not, they will be willing to give it.
You become motivated: as an individual with a good head on his shoulders, the success of others usually motivates you into working harder and doing better in your endeavours. That’s one of the reasons why we all read motivational books; these are books written by people who are successful in their chosen field. Motivation is a driving force that pushes an ordinary individual into an extra-ordinary realm thereby achieving extra-ordinary results.
You are respected: other people will respect you once they know you are associated with a successful person even if you do not deserve such respect. Such an emotion comes naturally and is instantaneous. You may not deserve it, neither did you ask for it.
You earn yourself a mentor: perhaps this is the most important reason why people associate themselves with others who are successful in their field. They have someone to look up to as a yardstick. One who will guide them in the right direction. A mentor is one who guides us. Everybody needs one, everybody should have one.
