Sure, you need a burning desire to achieve success in anything, but a burning desire will only be translated into action if it is an achievable desire.

You need to believe deep down that you can achieve it.

Let’s take a look at the difference between desire that can be fulfilled and a dream that can’t.

I would love to walk on the moon, or be a formula 1 racing driver, but that is not likely to happen.

While I desire it, I won’t achieve it.

On the other hand, I Would like to have a degree in art and I know that desire can be achieved, so it is a burning desire that can be translated into reality.

With desire you need to be able to translate it into motivation and that is the next step we need to look at in terms of achieving success.

2. Motivation to action

Getting motivated is one thing staying motivated is another.

If you are working towards achieving your desire you need to get motivated and stay motivated - this means working toward your goal in specific small steps.

As the old saying goes

“Each long journey begins with a single step.

This of course involves breaking your major goal down into sub goals.

Each time you reach a sub goal you can see that you are getting closer to the ultimate goal that you set.

After each sub goal is made reward yourself and use the power of positive motivation to propel you on.

As you can see yourself moving toward your goal you will stay focused on the end of your journey and it will seem a lot closer if you have smaller goals to achieve as you move along.

3. Time management and realism

When moving toward your goal make sure that you plan your time in advance and make the speed of your journey realistic.

You only have so much time in a day, but if you organize it correctly you can get a lot done.

Allocate a specific number of hours to achieve your goal which are comfortable for you to achieve and do not over load yourself with to much!

Many people have desire and motivation, but simply lose it as they cannot keep up with the time schedule they have set.

Don’t fall into this trap.
