Though there are art therapists available, we are still hesitant to see the value of creativity in our lives. We want to see results from our work, tangible, numerical results. And while the world values these calculations and results, we are losing the part of ourselves that lead us to creating these numbers in the first place. After all, our jobs and the way we do them are the result of someone's creativity and ideas. So, why not use creativity to begin creating a fuller life?
Picturing Your Dreams
In your head right now, picture something that you really want. This could be a physical item or perhaps something that's a little less tangible. As you picture this item, let your mind wander and create all of the little details that will make it more real to your soul. For example, if you want a car, picture yourself washing it, driving it around, the way it smells and feels, etc. By creatively 'drawing' this picture in your mind, you can begin to allow the energy of your life to shift. And as this energy shifts, the possibility of your dream becoming true increases.
Our bodies are designed to interact with the environment around us. As we move through our lives, we change the world around us - even if we can't see it. And we ourselves are changed too. Chemicals in our bodies change, our cells change, and we make different decisions based on the way our bodies change. This is a positive and interactive process. By realizing your creative role in this world and the way your ideas and visualizations can begin to affect your life, you might begin to see a glimpse of your power.
Adding Beauty to Your Life
To help yourself creatively inspire yourself and your actions, you need to surround yourself with things that inspire you. If you like flowers, make sure you have fresh flowers in your office or your home. If the ocean makes you feel inspired, have pictures of the ocean hanging on your wall. Create beauty and the feelings that go along with it. The creativity of these images will begin to help you feel inspired and creative all the time.
How does this affect your life? By making your world a beautiful place, you want to keep this feeling going. For example, when you clean a room in your house, you're more inspired to keep it that way. Thus, if you surround yourself with reminders of what you want your life to be, you will begin to subtly change your life so that you don't lose this feeling.
Making a Space for Creation
But in order to be creative, you need to allow for time and space to be creative. This will mean you set aside time for visualization, buying beautiful things, or simply doing something artistic. Even if this means just writing in a journal for a few minutes a day, that's still something creative - after all, you are creating sentences, words, etc. Find a few minutes each day to do something that inspires a creation and you will begin to create a better life for yourself.

By: Alan Seale | 05/07/2009there is something very important to me about coming back to this particular spot-a spot I have known and that has known me for more than 40 years. I always gain a greater perspective on my life when I am here. A ‘Lucky’ Bastard I Am Proud Of!
By: Adam Khoo | 04/07/2009Eight years ago, I was invited to give a talk at one of the Singapore polytechnics about achieving success in life to 500 final year students.
