A rock on top of a mountain cannot measure its potential until it rolls down and be on its path. Potential energy cannot achieve anything unless the object is stationary and do not seek greater things. The same is true for you. If you believe that you have great potentials, fine! That doesn't mean anything at all unless you start moving towards your goals and start transforming your potentials to actual strength. Why content yourself in lifting ten pounds when you can lift 50 pounds?
People without a clear view of their purpose in life can be compared to the rock on top of the mountain. They are immobile. They do not change. And they are comfortable in just watching other people achieve their dreams. Boring! Eventually, the winds and waters of life will come along and they will get swept off the place of the planet. Surely, you do not want to be like that. Move!
If you discover what your dreams are, you need to transform these dreams to actual goals and objectives, which can be achieved as part of the process of turning your dreams to reality. In this case you need to work more so that you can get something better out of life. You should be discontented with the current state of affairs in your life. You are entitled to so much more if you are willing to move and work it out!
If you are not yet aware of your potentials, go grab a pen and a piece of paper. List down the things that you can do. After that, you also need to list down the things that you are proficient about. You also need to list down the things and the activities that you love. Lastly, write down the things that you dream about. These lists will give you a good idea of your true potentials.
Given these potentials, you need to ask yourself whether you are living at par with these potentials or if you are undermining them. Whatever the cause of living below your potential, you need to shake off those limbs and get yourself in shape.
You do not need to live in fear or in constant anxiety over your purpose in life. You start working on the things and activities that you love and you'll get somewhere pretty soon. Practice your capabilities and capacities. With these, you will gain proficiency and soon you will be recognized in your field.
