There seems to be an undue focus on individualism in the world today. Perhaps this is the fault of movies and elements of culture that portrays individuals as formidable and invincible. Nothing could be further from the truth. What exists in the movies is far different from the real world.

We are all individuals but let us not forget that we are also social beings who thrive and improve with our interactions and relationships with each other. Although human relationships are sometimes ridden with conflicts, challenges, and difficulties, there are still a lot of positive things that our relationships with each other could bring. A pat in the back, an encouraging nod, and the simple presence of your friend in the time of adversity - all these enrich our hearts and our minds.

There are times, however, that you would rather be alone than be with others. That is fine because you also value your privacy. However, do not forget to enlist the fellowship of friends and colleagues because they can help you grow and realize your potentials in your career and in your personal life.

In pursuing your dreams, you also need the help of other people. Perhaps, if you delve into your past, you may come to realize that the process of discovering your purpose did not come through serendipity. There could have been at least one person who showed you an example worth emulating. By simply living our lives and pursuing what we love, we also influence positively the lives of other people and in the process, we live behind a legacy of touched lives.

Given this, you might want to look for a mentor or a partner in pursing your dreams. Even if it is not like a formal relationship, you can at least talk about your dreams and sharpen each other mentally, socially and spiritually. You can even ask your friend to help you out in pursuing your dreams. The idea behind this is that there is at least one person accountable for you. In turn, you are accountable to that person.

If you are a writer, you may contact a fellow writer so that you can support each other in the pursuit of your dreams and goals in life. In times that you are floundering and languishing behind, then your mentor/friend can then remind you of your dreams. With that, you can run alongside each other again.
