Whenever people ask me, "Adam, what motivates you, or what motivates you or me?" I will ask them this question "What motivates you to shop?" or I ask them "What motivates you to play computer games? What motivates you to watch TV? What motivates you to play golf?" You know what they say? "Its just natural".
The best way to get motivated is to do it naturally. The reason why I am so motivated is because I love what I do. And when you love what you do, it's not work. It becomes fun. When people ask, "Adam, why do you work 18 hours a day?" My reply is, "I don't. I play 18 hours a day. And I play every single day."
Here are some examples. The first example is professional golfer "Tiger Woods". I like to mention him. When he started playing golf, alright, he worked so hard. He hits like 500 golf balls a day. At the age of 3 years old, he's out there playing every single day.
He did it because he loved to do it. And today he's worth hundreds of millions of dollars but why is he still out there playing golf? Why? He doesn't need to. It's because he loves it.
It's the same for Bill Gates who is the richest man in the world. He's worth 46 billion. Why does he still go and work? The reason is because he loves doing it. That's the key.
Because the moment you love what you do, you will never work a single day in your life. Isn't that exciting? You would never work a single day in your life. Like for me, you know I love to create businesses. I love to solve people's problems. I love to entertain people on stage. I love to write down ideas. I love to share. That's what I love to do.
If you feel that you are not motivated, you'll find it hard to motivate yourself, it's because you don't love what you do. And honestly, if you were to ask me to do something which I don't love, I too, would not be motivated. I too would become lazy. Ask yourself this question. You may say you are a lazy person but is there something in your life which you are really motivated about naturally? I am sure there is.
So the key is to do what you love and the motivation will come naturally. Because when you do what you love, you are the best in it. You eat, breathe and sleep continuing to do and love what you enjoy doing.
