I think life is wonderful! What I mean by that is I find my life full of wonder. Have you ever really given any or that much thought to what life really offers you? Maybe you don’t think about it at all...you take each day as it comes. Do you feel you don’t have that much control over your days?

Some people think life is what happens to you! I like to think of it more from the view point of how I feel about what happens. I had, what I think, is one of the greatest gifts of looking at life as a child. My grandfather wanted to be sure the family business would continue so he would often talk to me about it.

A family business is much the same as any other “family” profession. Family in the sense of doing what works; how you spend your days; making a living (i.e. how the bills get paid).

The attitude I got from my grandfather and my family from growing up around the business was one that has served me throughout my life. I look at each day as an opportunity to be happy, because the only thing you are guaranteed is what you just had! Think about that for a moment...

What would your day be like if you knew this very moment was your last one? Maybe you think that is a morbid idea. So, just play along with me for a minute...and look at this idea from my point of view.

The truth is, if you were to research the records, there isn’t any specific age for which you will find a date of death. While that idea is possibly a sad one, it is also one that has supported me with the philosophy I have.

I’m not claiming to have perfect days all the time or that I am happy every moment. I am saying that I think my philosophy is probably one of the best that I know of. The words in a song from several years ago had a nice ring to it...”don’t worry, be happy”...and how I accomplish that is I switch my thoughts whenever I become aware that I’m not feeling happy.

I think one of the saddest things in life is that so many people go through each day looking at what is wrong instead of what is right. Let’s face it...you don’t have to look far to find “bad news” and I have found you don’t have to look far for someone to chime right in with you if you want to talk about what’s wrong either! I don’t even want to get into the topic of how I feel about rumors and the negative vibration that we can get from those conversations. My own life is full of enough things to wonder about without getting into everybody else’s!

I don’t claim to be a poet, however, I feel one of the ideas, represented in this poem that I wrote, is a great way to support being happy. It is a thought I came up with while thinking about what I wanted to do in my life and about taking the risk associated in the decisions I faced.

“Peering out from the womb...safe and warm inside, thrust out into life, not to fall and die...but to soar as the eagle flies”.

Think about something pretty commonly referred to today...being in a comfort zone, I read this poem from time to time to give me motivation to go for what I want versus doing what I don’t want to do. I have found most people are happy if they feel their day has some aspect in it of ownership toward their dreams. I dream of being happy with everything I do.

I think life is full of wonder and can be wonderful if you make the decision that it will be. I also feel my attitude should be one of gratitude and that keeps me on the track of being happy.

It is said so often and still not put into place “Today is the first day of the rest of your life”. SO… why not be happy?

Being your Word
By: Mark Shearon | 03/04/2007 | Self Improvement
What does “your word” mean? Some people would say it’s their bond; it’s the truth, an agreement, or their commitment. One of the things that I have found is, whatever we look at as the description of what “your word” means to you; each of us have gotten so casual with our word, that many things in our daily lives seem to go along without us giving any thought to what we are saying. It’s like we are on autopilot and don’t notice it.

The dictionary has the meaning “The purpose toward which an endeavor is directed; an objective.” It also states a synonym as “intention”. By using the word intention, a goal may not seem as ominous. When we take a look at our intentions, we can determine what it is that we want in a simple manner.

How your Attitude Affects your Life
By: Mark Shearon | 01/05/2007 | Self Help
Our attitude can determine whether the day is good or not-so good. It can be the catalyst for wealth and abundance beyond our dreams or if we just work to get by. It can determine whether friendships are close or just acquaintances. It can even determine if our relationships are loving and full of trust or if they are just overrated cohabitation. The attitude we have toward daily life can truly help attract more of we want, hence, the Law of Attraction.

The truth really can set you free. Once you are free, then what?! Think about this, if a movie was being made about your life, would you have the confidence to be the star in it or would you simply be a spectator? Milt Campbell, the 1956 Olympic Decathlon Gold Medal winner said: “God created you to be a champion. You have been conditioned to be a spectator.” Being confident is to know that you know...and confidence will unlock the door to your success.
