Seek First to Serve

Each one of us is always wanting something. We are always asking, wanting to receive this or that. In every moment in our lives we always have a desire. It may be a desire to pass that all-important exam, or for our kids to do well, it is human nature to always want to be more. However, we must cultivate an attitude of serving others s well.
My point is not say that it's bad to have desires, not at all, because without desire there can be no advancement. What I am saying is that since we would like to experience the joy of receiving our desires, how do we help others in receiving their desires?

How often do we make an effort to do things for other people without
expecting anything in return. How often do we put others' needs first
before our own. Our world and that of others would be a different place if we seek to serve others first.

Serving others does not necessarily mean donating millions to charity,
even simple things like helping a neighbour carry their luggage can go
a long way. Neither is it only limited to doing things for people we know, or are close to us, but also doing things for those we don’t know. Serving others comes through an understanding that we are all one and are all part of the same thing.

It is this understanding which is important. The understanding that we
are all one, that we are all the same, that there is no separation, is
fundamental. What you cause others to experience comes back to you
because we are all one. Indeed there is truth in the cliché, 'What goes around comes around'. So as much as you would like your desires met, ask yourself first how often do you cause others to meet their desires? How often do you serve? How often do you help create a positive experience to others? Seek first to serve...
