I woke up this morning with this analogy in my head and felt compelled to write about it! I realised that becoming successful is like learning to drive a car. It does not matter what your idea of success is, in fact it can be in regards to anything. First of all, you start with the anticipation of learning to drive (or be successful). You start to think about all the wonderful things you can do and see when you can drive. You see others driving, therefore you know if it is possible for someone else, it is absolutely possible for you. So you decide to learn.
You start out a bit timid. Hop in the car, preferably with someone who has a fair bit of experience on the road. You begin to figure out which one is the brake, which is the gas, how fast you need to be going in order to change gears, how to fill up the car with petrol, instigating three point turns and parallel parks etc. Once you spend some time working out how to manoeuvre the car, you then begin to learn all the road rules. You become aware of other drivers and how best to navigate the roads in conjunction with other traffic. You also learn to identify road signs and abide by their instruction and follow the correct signals and symbols etc.
I liken this to the process of being successful (at whatever it is you wish to achieve) because first of all you have to get an idea in your head of what it is that you want. Then you set out to get there. You train your mind to think a certain way; you adapt a certain mindset and learn what the best action to take is. You came across a lot of people along the way who are there to assist you. You navigate your way through others on the path (maybe even past them!) and you are on your way.
The most wonderful thing about all of this is that soon the act of driving (or succeeding) becomes an unconscious act. It becomes something you just do, without having to really focus on it. Of course as you keep resetting your goals you need to refocus and keep taking action, but the energy of succeeding and the knowing that you will get there is at the subconscious level. So as you become a driver with more experience you just jump in the car and you are away. You can experience driving whenever you like.
How wonderful that success, like driving, and like anything else begins as a choice!
Do you choose to be successful and live the lifestyle of your dreams? Do you have the motivation and drive to make it happen for yourself?
If so I would love to be one of the people on your path that assists you. Please contact http://www.cre8today.com for more information

How do you make decisions?
By: Rebecca Sheldon | 09/11/2009 | Goal SettingDo you base the decisions you make on love or fear? How is it that we learnt to base decisions on things that are contrary to, or outside of, our goals or desires, because we think we have to or we should? Who decided that we should do that? I think sometimes we lose all sense of self in regards to what we want because we are so busy running around trying to please others.
