The greatest gift you can give everyone you meet is your own joy. That may sound cheesy and trite but it's not. When you are joyous (especially when others are sad) you are a beacon of hope.
Imagine if you left every person you met a little bit brighter. When you uplift others you are giving them a special gift that is going to cause a wonderful ripple effect.
Their mood is improved because of you and now they are going to naturally brighten the moods of others.
Hope is under-estimated. If you can give someone hope that is often all they need. Just one person to believe in them is huge. Even if those you meet are not your close friends you have no idea the impact you can make on strangers.
Perhaps they have no one in their life. And just your smile, or just your kind words or just an honest conversation is all they need to pull them out of whatever trouble they are in.
You really don't know whose lives you impact simply being as happy as you can be. Especially in the face of "disasters" and "economic crises" these are the times when more gloom is definitely not needed.
It is the rare person who does not turn their attention to doom and gloom. Perhaps because it is easier to join in the moaning and complaining? Although it may be hard not to not participate in talks of "hard times" and other horrors it is in your own best interests not to.
Focus on all the good surrounding you. There really is more good than bad. And the best thing is the more wonderful things you focus on, the more wonderful things will happen to you.
It is a positive snow-ball effect where you and everyone you grace with your presence wins!
