Where are we going? Does anyone really know? We are like the stars in the sky, we keep moving and swirling, faster and ever faster.
Once, I was young and had my whole life ahead of me. I knew where I was going and why. But, one day I awoke to find that I didn't know where I was.
I asked the trees, but they stood strong, they knew where they were. I asked the flowers, they were busy swaying in the wind, taking in the sunshine. They were content.
I asked the squirrel, he was gathering nuts for the winter, he knew it would be long and cold. I asked the deer, he just looked at me with those beautiful eyes, and said beware.
I will follow the brook, it is moving fast, it must know where it is going! It seems it goes on for ever, never ending. Over the rocks, around the trees, faster, ever faster. Why doesn't it wait for me? Does't it know I can't keep up, I strumble, a thicket is in my way I have to go around. Please wait. But, it is in such a hurry it can't hear me.
I will lie here and wait someone will come to show me the way. There is a beautiful eagle, yes follow it, it can see all. It soars so high. The trees are so tall and thick, oh there he is, run, run I have to keep up. Ah, the mountains I can see from here, yes.
It is getting dark, oh I pray for the light.
