Akki Back to Square One With De Dana Dan

Priyadarshan arguably can be baptized the best when it comes to the comedy genre in Bollywood. Not many have the god gifted ability of making films of such caliber as Priyadarshan makes. Well, the same can also be said about Akshay Kumar. Yes, not many in Bollywood have the knack of making people fall off their seats with side-splitting humor and an awe-inspiring comic timing like Akshay Kumar.

After a disappointing upshot at the Box Office of Blue, Akshay Kumar returns to what he does best. In the year 2009, Akshay has just one HIT film in his bag. Kambakkht Ishq did a good business at the Box Office compared to the other movies which Akki did in the year 2009. But Priyadarshan and Akshay collectively is undeniably a HIT combination. You see Hera Pheri or take the example of Garam Masala. You can always count on Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan as a team.

Seeing the promos of De Dana Dan, one can say that this one has the ingredients to make it big in the Box Office. The song Paisa has already created a name for it and is hit amongst the people. When we talk about Akshay Kumar’s movies, now we have to take into the account RDB. Yes, they are responsible for giving us some chartbuster renditions like Om Mangalam from Kambakkht Ishq and now Paisa from De Dana Dan. The side-splitting trailer of the movie is made many laugh out loud and has intrigued the fans to the core.

De Dana Dan is about Nitin (Akshay Kumar) and Ram (Suniel Shetty) who are only lucky in love and otherwise their life is a big zero as is their bank balance! But now their rich girlfriends, Anjali (Katrina Kaif) and Manpreet (Sameera Reddy) have given them an ultimatum to earn enough money so that they can elope. Or else forget them forever. Broke and desperate Nitin and Ram need to make big money and fast. They hit upon an audacious plan to kidnap Moolchandji, the spoilt dog of rich bitch Archana (Archana Puran Singh).   But Moolchandji runs away, and the police think it’s Nitin who’s been kidnapped. As the guys try to get their hands on the ransom money, they encounter assorted characters like a Chinese Don, a hired assassin, an ACB officer, a club dancer, an ambassador, a young frustrated wife, a letch, a drunken waiter and a dead body nobody wants. What happens next is De Dana Dan as everything and everyone goes helter-skelter.

The story is patent Priyardarshan style as it has all the elements of a helluva laughter dose. May be there is no relevance of Hera Pheri and De Dana Dan except the cast and crew but the thing common would be the outcome of the movie. This one promises to be too hilarious akin to all Priyadarshan’s prior films.

With Katrina Kaif, the movie has a lucky charm, as she is arguably the leading HIT lady of Bollywood at this point of time.
