Funny People is based around comic George Simmons, played by Adam Sandler. He is a very successful comic who also had a great career and made millions doing stand-up and movies. He lives in a gorgeous mansion and seems to have it all. The only problem is he is extremely self-absorbed and is actually a jerk. He has really no friends or any kind of real relationships either. In the beginning of the movie we learn George has a rare blood disorder and given less than a year to live.
One night George encounters a young comedian Ira Wright, played by Seth Rogan, who is still trying to find himself on stage and currently working in a deli to support himself. Over the course of the movie the two form a close bond. George helps Ira with his comedy routines, and in return, Ira helps George with his blood disorder and helps him to accept what is happening o him and embrace the legacy he is leaving behind. The movie is full of twists and funny unpredictable turns, it's a great ride.
The movie is packed with laughs and features two great actors with a knack for making people laugh until they cry. It is a must see movie.
