Summer Movies - Entertainment or Just Business? Part 2

My prayers have been answered! Finally, an over-hyped movie with all of the buzz a studio can ask for, actually delivers. Batman, you're my hero. I'm almost speechless, to say the least, but more importantly, relieved beyond belief. A big-budget action packed movie that is worth watching again and again on the big screen? The Dark Knight has received stellar reviews, by fans and critics, and has set a box office record - $158 Million in 3 days. This record was set only a year ago by Spiderman 3, which raked in $151 Million to start off the summer movie season. Now I know that I do not see a penny from any of this, and why should I care if any of these movies set records and such? But the truth is, considering I love movies, I also enjoy following box office statistics and knowing random facts (Gone With The Wind is the highest grossing movie [domestic] of all time when adjusted for inflation - $1.3 Billion). Taking this into consideration, it bothers when a big-budget movie like Spiderman 3 ($258 Million budget), which was a horrible movie, shatters all-time records such as opening day, opening weekend, and single day numbers, to say the least. When a fantastic and entertaining movie like The Dark Knight gets such credit, it satisfies me more, feeling like the movie actually deserves such kudos.
