Who is "nightmare Kinetics"?

The other day out of curiosity and looking for something to do, I ran across this new site. Or at least it was new to me. Being a horror fan I'm always on the lookout for something interesting enough to entertain me. The site I'm speaking of is Nightmare Kinetics. It seemed a good way to spend the afternoon and gave me something to write about. Remembering running across various video segments on the internet through online video surfing I went ahead and buried myself into the site.

First off, I was really impressed not only by the quality of work but by the artistic vision and composition choices that NK had implemented into their creations. In looking further it seemed to stem from the twisted artistic mind of well known horror illustrator Mike Bohatch who had established himself far back among the numerous book and CD covers of the horror genre. In fact, I own quite a few publishings myself that sport his nightmarish presentations. His sister site being "Eyes of Chaos".

These manifestations seemingly have progressed leaping off the pages and into film and video interpretations. This new entity "Nightmare Kinetics" is appropriately translated into "Nightmares in motion". Upon research you would think that they sprang up practically overnight, but in fact it looks like it was actually started back in 2005. Why I say that, is some of the clips seem to be circulating the video circuit quit frequent.

I liked the fact that the site provided cool clips to download and that I didn't have to wait online for each to load. So this way I could review them closer back on my hard drive. Another thing that caught my interest was that they seemed to be exclusive to the horror genre. Which meant if you like the work you'll be seeing alot more in that vein and style. The use of the word kinetic most definitely refers to their high energy style of editing. I found myself comparing clips to the likeness of a Marilyn Manson video and a hodgepodge of big screen elements in newer horror releases. In summary, quite a visual feast served up.

One of the services they specialize in is movie title segments. Some call them prologues, intro credit pieces, titles etc. Now from looking at the ones they had available for download, they almost take on the feeling of a short film themselves. Crazy animated text segments and rich horrific visuals that jump out at you.

As a movie goer, I watch alot of films and notice when the filmmakers start off with an intro thats more than just white text over black slides. I guess its not for everyone but often they draw you in with an interesting introduction into what your about to see. I always assumed that the film makers themselves created these but in looking now there seems to be a market that is exclusive to just "movie title segments". A film within a film I suppose is the best way to classify it. Anyways I'm sure filmmakers will be excited to know that there is a new force on the block that they can call for dynamic titles! Up to now I thought maybe the studios had some title guy locked away that they just had focused on these elements only. I suppose reading the credits at the end of films would shed some light but usually that's when I get up to grab a snack.

In any case moving along, the site also features really dynamic movie trailers, commercials and odd tidbits of motion graphics. The fact that they cater to both small and large films is a nice option for films on a lower budget. I suppose this would mean that you don't have to be Dreamworks to hire on some cool intro or rockin' movie trailer.

Lastly, but certainly not least, it appears that they have progressed into filmmaking as well per there newly released announcements. In checking out the film productions page they've already got one foot in the door with several horror titles under production and a partnership with filmmakers Buffalo Nickel productions. Pretty cool to say the least. I know I'll be ordering my copy when its out!
