Simply Self Storage - What Could be Easier than Simply?
Simply Self Storage is the largest privately owned self storage company in the United States and Puerto Rico. We own and/or operate over 228 facilities with over 16.1 million square feet of storage space.
Determining your storage unit needs is an easy process that merely requires a bit of forethought. Depending on what you need to store, it is important to consider all aspects while you are deciding which storage unit is best for your needs. With a bit of work you can find the right solution for your needs, and protect the items you need to store.
First, when you are examining what kind of storage unit you need, you want to examine what kind of item you want to store. The type of item you are storing will have a direct correlation on what on what kind of storage unit you choose. In addition, it will have a factor on other considerations you may wish to entertain like location and accessibility.
The size of the storage unit you will need will have to be addressed first. If you need a mini storage, you do not need to be paying for a large storage unit. Likewise, if you need a large storage unit, the last thing you want is to run out of space. The space you need will also play a factor in which storage unit you choose and how far it is from your home.
In addition, you may want to examine the conditions of the storage unit you will be renting/leasing in regards to the item you need to store. For instance, does your item(s) need to have an environmentally controlled setting? If so, this will make a sizable difference on what kind of storage center you will be using, especially as many storage centers do not offer environmentally controlled units. If you believe you will need this option, you will want to query the manager of the center on if such units are offered and what the prices are far in advance. Try always to have a second option available.
If you have a boat, you want access to water or at the very least have it nearby to avoid long travel distances. You may wish to choose a storage unit that is right on, or in, the water itself. This means your boat will be accessible and might be maintained by the establishment. This also means that you are ready to go with minimal effort. If you are going to be storing a vehicle, you also want ready roadside access.
If you are storing an expensive vehicle, boat, or electronics, you may want to consider storage units with security. Although these locations costs more to storage your things at, it can be worth it in the long run especially as most storage centers do not report or let new customers know about thefts they have had. If you are unsure if a storage center has units that are monitored by security, ask the manager or appropriate individual.
Another factor you will want to consider is if you need long term or short-term storage. If you need to store something over a number of years, you will want a long-term storage unit. If you need to store something only for a couple of months, you should consider a short-term storage. The largest factors in which option you choose is cost, as you cannot usually obtain a refund from a long-term storage center if you remove your item.
Whether or not your storage unit has security is an important concern, but you will also want to determine how secure each unit is for your items. This can include the area in which the storage center is located, the security of the complex including if there is a fence or other protective items, and how accessible local law enforcement is to the area. In addition, you will also want to determine if the center is gated or if anyone can access the location.
Another factor in your decision is if you want to pay a high cost for a storage center that has a great reputation in a popular location, or a storage center that is not well known and in a questionable area but has a much lower cost per month. While this decision is easy for boat or vehicle storage, it is not as easy to decide if you have items you wish to store for a time that do not need ease of access. You may wish to question the manager of the complex and explain your particular needs while cross-examining it with the reputation of the center and what others have said.
