There are many challenges ahead of anyone moving to Australia from the United States of America. For one thing, one will need to trim down the amount of things one has. Everyone knows that they have way too much stuff. American can be especially guilty of this. Our society loves to pour stuff on each other. One can hardly make it out of one store or another without more stuff than they thought they were getting. It is not even that people are going into stores and spending more money. Stores just like to have deals of buy one get some amount free. It can be so difficult to cut down on one’s stuff. If one is moving to Australia however, one cannot bring it all. Not only would that be very expensive, but also one cannot be positive that they can even take all of the things one would want to take. The only thing to do is to cut it down. Anyone moving and especially anyone moving to Australia needs to limit the amount of things one has.

Another difficulty when moving to Australia is finding a place to live. The first thing that an American should do when thinking about moving to Australia is to do some research on the country itself. One needs to know the geography of this country. If one is planning on moving to Australia for a job, then one needs to know what the environment is where one plans on moving. Australia has many different environments. Some are harsher than others. Moving to Sydney is a wholly different thing than moving to one of Australia’s deserts. Not only does a person need to plan out different clothing, one needs to plan a budget ahead of time. Moving to the country’s capital is a very different thing from moving to a small town. The cost of living alone is very different.

An important thing to keep in mind when moving to Australia is that it is a very different place. One will need to get used to things like the metric system. People do not realize how often measurements come up until they no longer make any sense. Whenever one wants to know what the temperature is outside or know the distance between places one will need to convert the measurements in their head. One also needs to keep in mind that Australians have different products than Americans. One does not fill one’s car up with gas. One fills one’s car up with petrol.
