Here, you’ll commune on the 1,200 acres of the costal community on public trams and electric carts, have a round of golf on the course planned by George Cobb or have a game of tennis. It has a full marina harbor on 10 acres, a 1,500 square foot gym and a 10,000 square foot Shoals Club with porches, decks, dining and banquet rooms and programs that include fishing and croquet tournaments, Fourth of July and New Year’s celebrations. The peace and quiet is matchless and ideal for retired people or those who want to relocate.

Located near Wilmington North Carolina, is the Waterford of the Carolinas community with seven miles of linked lakes and canals meandering through 600 landscaped acres. Activities encompass pool, clubhouse and media room, kayaking, billiards, ballroom, tennis, walking and biking paths. Waterford of the Carolinas is very affordable coastal living for retired people on any budget.

In Sunset Beach on the South Carolina border is Sea Trail, nearly equidistant from Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, North Carolina. A coastal community catering to sightseers and short-term residents, the 2,000 acres are made up of one thousand five hundred residences including golf villas - ideal for investment - with its managed renters program or inexpensive seasonal retirement. The community has an activity center with volleyball, croquet, badminton, children’s room with movies, crafts, board games, free shuttle service to the beach, two residents only swim and fitness centers, exercise equipment, classes and indoor pools, three golf courses designed by Dan Maples, Rees Jones and Willard Byrd, a driving range, tennis courts, putting green, walking and biking trails, spa services and golf league.

Coastal New Bern, North Carolina has progressively been gaining popularity. Nearly 5 miles south of New Bern on route 70 is the Carolina Colours community. Love, access to the Pamlico Sound, a lake for fishing and rowing, 4 tennis courts, a clubhouse, a 6,000 square foot gym with classes, 2 pools, meeting facilities, and a dining room and banquet hall.
