Test Your Grip Strength

There are a number of ways you can test your grip strength, one of those is the Grip Dynamometer. This is used to check the muscular strength by giving a digital readout as you squeeze the grips. You check your readout against a chart to see what your performance is. You could use this to check your progress to see if your grip strength has been improving.

Another and more fun way took check your grip strength is to actually test it with heavy stuff. You might have started your grip strength training being able to pick up a 20 pound dumbbell with a pinch grip on the end, now you can pick up 40 pounds. You need to progressively go up to a heavier weight to keep challenging your muscles.

If you use a sledge hammer for wrist curl or lever type workouts, you may have had to choke up on the handle so you could lift it. As time goes by you should be moving your hand back towards the end of the handle to make it more difficult.

If you use the ‘Captains of Crush” hand grippers you could be testing your grip with the next tougher gripper from what you are now using. Many people get certified on the No. 3, No. 3.5 and the No. 4 grippers. There are rules you need to follow for certification so if you are using “Captains of Crush” grippers why not get certified.

Testing your strength by these methods is more fun and more of a real life kind of thing to do instead of using a dynamometer. You know exactly what you are capable of.
