Thousands and thousands adults who have aspired to act on their curiosities about getting involved with piano study. To each and every one of these individuals, let us express our admiration for your desire and for getting past your initial reservations about getting started. It is these reservations that we would like to acknowledge here for just a moment.
The piano is the most universal instrument in terms of popularity. Almost every one of us has some has some reference to the piano, beginning with our childhood. Perhaps a parent, sibling, uncle, aunt, cousin, or friend played the piano, at least to some degree. And, with many of us, the desire to play the instrument existed but, for some reason or other, we never fully entertained the idea.
This may have been due to one (or more) of several reasons:
*A piano was not available to us
*The encouragement to get involved did not exist
*There was no private teacher available locally
*Financial means were not available for formal study
*Belief in our ability was not strong
*We felt we had to "live up to" a certain level of competence
*There was discouragement from a non-empathetic "teacher"
*We didn't "connect" with a certain teacher, and we allowed this to "justify" not exploring further
*Our desire was not strong enough to overcome any or all of the above...
Yes, it is that last one we'd like to mention again here...Our desire was not strong enough to overcome any or all of the above... Friend, we're here to tell you that - IF YOU HAVE HAD THE DESIRE TO PLAY - whatever has "stood in your way" does NOT have to be a reality for you. As a matter of fact, none of these reasons is a realistic reason to not have fun with music beginning NOW...it is our conviction that:
