"We were very pleased to receive such recognition from AirPlay Direct and exposure to its worldwide network of broadcasters and webcasters," said Alexander Shulgin. "AirPlay Direct has consistently proven to be a leader in helping unsigned and big name artists in utilizing new technology to reach music tastemakers around the globe."
"It is very exciting for us to continue to grow our international presence," said Robert Weingartz, CEO of AirPlay Direct. "Alexander Shulgin is an extremely talented artist and a strong ambassador for the Russian music industry."
Produced by the successful DWB stable of writers and producers, the "Triptych" compilation features Shulgin's music, melodies and instrumentals that have yet been played before. With inventive use of the Spanish nylon strung acoustic guitar as a main lead instrument, it conjures up sunsets in Spain and peaceful sunshine bathed fields swaying in the breeze. There is a blend of modern Chillout styles and some more Urban sounding Jazz tinged opuses on this album - music to have a warm bath in. The compilation brings together an impressive array of talent, raging from producers Paul Drew and Richard Niles to notable jazz names as Gary Husband, Martin Taylor, John Patitucci, Simon Rushby, Bob Mintzer and Jon Howell to name a few.
"'Triptych, Shulgin's Songbook, Part 1' is simply a phenomenal album! It's a jazz lover's paradise. This album is a fusion between jazz and easy listening, suitable for every situation - background music, cozying up with your lover, or just chilling out and relaxing." This was the result of a process that eliminated airplay of sounds that were too violent or offensive. Most stations pulled 100 to 250 songs from their playing lists. While some felt this action was over the edge in spite of the world issues, others felt it was a way for radio stations to take some responsibility for the music society is being exposed to.
Music censorship is quite a controversial issue
By: Paul Ingersole | 08/12/2009Tipper Gore and her followers had their day in court regarding the issue, as did the heavy metal bands it threatened.
