Christina Aguilera: the Little Singer With a Big Voice

An unorthodox sense of fashion combined with amazing vocals sets apart Christina from her peers. A devout catholic Christina was born in December 18, 1980; she is a songwriter and singer. She is seen in the music industry as the performer having very long term prospects as she has a very good voice and relies on it completely instead of dance. After all a good singer is always remembered by his or her singing ability rather then how they dress up or how they dance. After her parents got a divorce, she and her younger sister went to stay with their mother and grandmother in Pennsylvania. According to Christina her father was a physically and emotionally abusive person who also had a very controlling personality. Christina always aspired to be a singer, even when she was just a child; she got a break in the entertainment industry relatively early in her career.

Aguilera along with Britney Spears hosted The Mickey Mouse Show in television in the early 90’s. She had many musical influences in her life while she was growing up, some of her inspirations were Madonna, Etta James, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Aretha Franklin and the hit musical The Sound of Music. As a child she took part in many singing competitions where she defeated opponents owing to her beautiful singing and superior voice quality. She gained media attention very early, all because of her voice and at one time she was dubbed as ‘The little girl with the big voice’. When The Mickey Mouse Show ultimately came to an end in the year 1994, Christina started recording demo songs in an attempt to be signed up by a recording company.

Christina’s first major break came when she was selected to sing Reflection for one of Disney’s animation production. The song went on to be at the peak position in the Adult Contemporary Singles, besides being nominated for Golden Globe Awards in the Best Original Song category in the year 1998. It was recording of this song which propelled Christina to limelight in the world of music and singing. She was then signed up by the record company RCA to record an album in her voice. Her first album titled Christina Aguilera was released in the United States in the very next year i.e. 1999. This album turned out to be a major hit and reached the top of Billboard Hot 100 in 1999 and 2000. One song in the album titled ‘I turn to you’ peaked at number three in the chart. Christina went on to win the Best New Artist Award at the Grammy Awards in 2000 besides being nominated for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for the song ‘Genie in a Bottle.’

Some of the other major albums recorded by Christina are Stripped, Back to Basics, Mi Reflejo, Just be Free and My Kind of Christmas. She has done numerous television appearances, but till now has not made any movie appearances. Christina is currently married to Jordan Bratman, a marketing executive.
