Presently it is booked till the December 2008 in the West end of London. A New York production is in the planning stage regarding this play according to a report by CNN. It has started breaking records namely in the North American city in Toronto where it opened on 31st of October in 2007. Plans of expansion to Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles and even San Francisco are under consideration.
Other than stage Dirty Dancing has made an appearance in several forms. In 1988 "Dirty Dancing: Live in Concert" was organized that featured Bill Medley and Eric Carmen. In a short period of three months it has already played in 90 cities. In the late eighties a television series of the same name was launched by CBS that featured an all new cast. It featured Patrick Cassidy and Melora Hardin. It only telecasted ten episodes before its cancellation in the first month of 1989. In 2004, the sequel to the film was also released. Although it was not supposed to be a remake but it featured a similar story that involved around an American teenager who had been moved to Havana right before the revolution. Actor Patrick Swayze was paid a whooping Dollar5 million for appearing in a guest appearance as a dance teacher. The film celebrated its 20th anniversary in 1987 by releasing a special edition DVD. The release of a videogame version of dirty dancing was also announced to mark the special occasion.
