I know of at least one remedy for this problem.  OK, so an MC I know and have done quite a lot of work with drops by The Garden (my studio) and hears a track I’m working on and says; “I’ve gotta have that”, because he is working on his album (for the last two years, and counting. Really?!?!?). I hook him up on four different occasions. He is on fire for the tracks at first, but he takes his time, procrastinates, rewrites lyrics, procrastinates some more and eventually the track becomes old to him and he is no longer inspired by it. He thinks the answer is in getting a new track for inspiration. Well, we did that four times already, so when he asked the fifth time I told him no. When he asked me why, I gave him this observation based on what I knew. He had 15 tracks from three different producers, and at the time he received each one he was fired up. But he has only completed three or four songs. Why? He loved and was inspired by the tracks when he got them. Whether it’s laziness, procrastination, fear, no real fire for success or whatever, the bottom line is; if he can’t make himself get busy for his dreams, nothing, and no one, will. No matter how hot the track or how great the opportunity, work is required at the time of inspiration. Inspiration doesn’t wait for any of us. When the track is hot and inspiration is high; don’t wait, do the work.
