Martell

Head Banging is an interesting phenomenon that takes place when any of us start listening to the music we love, which is usually Heavy Metal. Rarely do you see people head banging to the Dixie Chicks, but I guess that depends on alcohol consumption.
Three people claim to have invented the term “head banging.” The boys in Led Zeppelin claim they coined the phrase in 1968 when fans at their concert started moving their head to the rhythm bent over against the stage. Lemmy claims his original band name was “Motorheadbangers,” so that’s another possibility. Ian Gillan of Deep Purple won’t say how he invented the term, but he says there is “a distinct possibility that Deep Purple is responsible for the invention of head banging.”
In all seriousness though if you take a look at it, the actual term head banging is a medical term that is referred to children who in their sleep bang their head against their crib or bedposts. Its very common that later in life these children will experience neck issues and frequent visitations to the chiropractor.
So picturing these poor children thrashing their heads around and you’ll see that its not that much of stretch to connect that with us standing in front of a stage breaking our necks and costing the medical system precious resources. The fact of the matter is fans invented head banging, the term doesn’t matter. A bunch of intellectuals saw people doing what came natural to them with extreme music and said, “those people look like head bangers out of the crib.” End of story.
On an end note, I just don’t see that heavy head banging with Deep Purple and Zeppelin so if a musician did in fact coin the term I’m going to have to go with the god of thrash metal Lemmy.

By: Kasan Groupe | 21/12/2009Whether you love it or hate it, you can’t deny that auto-tune is here to stay, at least for a little while longer. Even with Jay-Z’s recent “Death of Autotune” song, top 40 radio is still full of artists using (and abusing) the auto-tune affect. Some artists use it to correct bad pitch and others use it for the robotic effect, no matter what reason they use it the fact is that it is a popular effect in hip-hop, pop and even indie-rock that has become hugely popular. Here is a list of some of the
