Kids and Drumming: Do You Really Know As Much As You Think You Do?

If you think, you know all there is to know about reasons to let or not let your child take drumming take the following quiz to see how right you really are!

If you chose d, all of the above than you are right!  People for years have thought that drummers were not actually musicians and that drumming is not necessary because it is nothing but noise.  They are so wrong!  Drumming is an important part to any music, it is the beat and the rhythm and yes drummers are musicians! George Harrison of the Beatles once said, "Playing without Ringo is like driving a car on three wheels." As or the physical benefits have you ever seen a clarinet player work up a sweat? Neither have I!

   2. Eye to hand coordination, focus, zoning in.
   3. Strengthen the memory, adds intelligence

If you chose d, again than again you are right!  Eye to hand coordination has to be extremely acute to play the drums and the child must zone in and stay focused to be able to keep with the beat or to stay in rhythm.  Scientist have determined that drumming does indeed strengthen the memory and adds intelligence to children and adults but more profoundly in children.

And yet again, if you chose d you would be 100% absolutely correct!  Not only does allowing your child to drum lead to feelings of confidence, self worth and self motivation but it also encourages team work, stability and it is known to boost the morale of children!

With all the reasons to allow a child to drum, I cannot see where any of the negativities you may think are associated with drumming can compare.  If raising an independent, confident, mindful child is, your goal to achieve than drumming should be on that child’s agenda.
