Comprising of elements such as pitch, tempo, timbre and texture, Music Industry is a highly recognisable sound based artistic expression known nearly worldwide, from the highly commercial Music industry of Western World, to far reaching tribal songs of celebration or war. Music is produced via the use of instruments, both acoustic and electric, as well as the human voice.
The word "Music" derives from the Greek ??????? (mousike), meaning the art of the Muses and it is easy to see why; music is a diverse medium that can evoke powerful emotions when heard. Dependant on the style, genre, pitch rhythm and many other elements, music has the ability of make a person laugh, cry, contemplate and change.

The distribution of music has also become increasingly prevalent with the invention of new technologies. This has sparked a number of debates to the legality of that music’s distribution. Previously, music was commonly distributed in the Western World though formats such as cassette tapes and compact discs where a member of the public would have to purchase the music in question directly from a retailer. But with the digital boom of technology and the internet, there are very easy and accessible means to copy this music into a digital format and distribute it illegally over the World Wide Web. Companies such as iTunes have taken their own measures of opening an "on-line" store which allows people to access the music in the same way, but still pay for what they "download" to ensure the method that it has been obtained in is legal (inclusive of distribution costs and royalties). There are also other legal options for hearing music free "streaming" websites that allow someone to listen to the songs with permission from the artists and without downloading them and breaking copyright.
