Li’l Kim seems pretty ticked off by the upcoming film about her self-proclaimed ex-soulmate Biggie Smalls a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G. The biopic, entitled Notorious, portrays her in a not-too-flattering light. Instead of glorifying the sexy female rapper, it instead paints her as a more minor character in Biggie’s life. Li’l Kim, who has always made it known to the public that she shared a romantic and sexual relationship with the murdered rapper, obviously feels that she was misrepresented and not given her due.
Li’l Kim says:
"The film studio and producers involved were more concerned about painting me as a 'character' to create a more interesting story line instead of a person with talent, self-respect and who was able to achieve her own career success through hard work.
"Even though my relationship with Big was at times very difficult and complicated (as with most relationships we have all experienced at one time or another), it was also genuine and built on great admiration and love for each other. Regardless of the many lies in the movie and false portrayal of me to help carry a story line through, I will still continue to carry his legacy through my hard work and music."
Violetta Wallace, the mother of Biggie Smalls (who was born Christopher Wallace in 1972), had this to say in return:
"This is not a Lil Kim movie," she said. "This is a Christopher Wallace movie. It has nothing to do with Lil Kim. If she's disappointed and upset, that is her problem."
There has been a lot of controversy even after Biggie was shot by an unknown assailant in an L.A. drive-by shooting in 1997. One of the squabbles that erupted from this was between Li’l Kim and Biggie’s wife, R&B singer Faith Evans. While Faith insists that she remains the love of Biggie’s life, Li’l Kim continues to portray herself as the real love of the deceased rapper, and not some upstart who slept with him just to get famous.
Besides working on her 5th studio album, entitled Vintage, Li’l Kim is also currently planning to produce a biopic on her own life.
