Sherrie Erickson is a singer/songwriter/guitarist from British Columbia, Canada. At age eight, Sherrie’s father placed his guitar in her lap and taught her the basics. From there she became an active part of a family of singers and musicians harmonizing with her mother and sisters. She has performed with her parents at weddings, churches, and fairs. As a singer/songwriter, stay-at-home mom she has been through the joys and difficulties of marriage, motherhood, mortgages, and life in general, she uses these experiences as inspiration for many of her songs.
Her song "Happy" has been a big hit in the October Favorite Song by a Female Solo Artist contest on talent and competition website MakeAStar.com. A cut from her debut CD Songs From My Sofa, "Happy" is described as "one of the fun songs" on the album, which covers themes from Sherrie’s personal life experiences. Sherrie says the song is about "how we tend to compare ourselves to what others have and try to keep up with them."
Sherrie has a distinctive alto voice that flavors her range from contemporary adult to contemporary country music. Her songs are for people who can relate to the longing for love, finding love, losing love, and making love, and even a Mother’s Love. Sherrie is passionate and spontaneous, yet grounded by life’s gritty experiences. Her gift is her music. Her sound is a little country – contemporary – female ballad. Her voice delivers passion from soft and sensual to hurtin’ and furious. 100% female! Some say her sound is reminiscent of Patsy Cline crossed with KD Lang and Connie Kaldor and maybe even a bit of Loreena McKennitt and Allison Krause in some songs.
Stacie Nicole is a 24 year old singer/songwriter from Chicago, IL now based in in Kansas City. She says that her dream & goal is to become a professional recording artist in the R&B/Pop genres. Her idols are Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera & Mary J. Bilge. Her song "Best in Me" has captured the attention of the MakeAStar.com music fans, and now is in a tough final match this week against Sherrie Erickson. Stacie Nicole writes both the lyrics & melodies for all of her songs. A passionate, strong-willed young singer, who says she "will do whatever it takes to make it happen!" Stacie Nicole will certainly put up a strong fight in the Female Solo Artist contest this week.
