So, if you have an iPod, download only songs in the format your iPod supports. When you have clarity over the formats you need, you can start downloading.
There is a rich choice of free and paid music downloading programs, so it is up to you to pick up the best one. If you have problems with the program you have selected, you may want to see if this problem is addressed in the FAQ section or in the Help menu. Chances are that there you will find a solution to your problem.
