U2 was created in 1976 by Larry Mullen Jr. when he was 14. The four members of the band Adam Clayton, Paul Hewson, Larry Mullen, Jr. and Dave Evans are all original members. U2 has been able to recreate themselves over the past 30 years with continued success. Their music is different from the rest of the bands from this era especially in the genre of alternative rock. Originally the Larry Mullen band U2 came to be known in the 80’s as they became a more recognized band.
The 80’s was the turn around time for U2, they became popular and their live shows were a success. Their live shows had become more of a success than their actual recordings. U2 became a sensation in the 80’s hitting the billboard charts with number one singles.
Lead singer Bono is also widely known for his activism concerning Africa and world leaders. Bono has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, was granted an honorary knighthood by the United Kingdom, and was named as a Person of the Year by Time, among many other awards and nominations. Bono is known today as a very outspoken activist and is been praised and criticized.
The exceptionally talented Rock group has released many hits and continues to remake themselves.
