Chain of DestructionRob Bell writes in his book, The Velvet Elvis , that most Christians are afraid to change any views that they hold, or even question them because to do so could cause two very painful consequences. First, one might find out that they are wrong about something and secondly, the changing of one thing could lead to changing or revisions in other things. Rob calls this concept Brickianity. And he specifically syas, "Each of the core doctrines for him is like an individual brick that stacks on top of the others. If you pull one out, the whole wall starts to crumble. It appears quite strong and rigid, but if you begin to rethink or discuss even one brick, the whole thing is in danger." And guess what we do with bricks. We build walls that keep people out and keep us IN and away from any new ideas or even truths. Hey there couldn't be any new truths since we have them all already. Right? Wrong! Another way to look at this concept is that we have a chain of thoughts and each thought links to another thought and we've logically worked out in our heads (there's a problem!). Ends always run truth to origins or as D. H. Lawrence put it, " Those that go searching for love only manifest their own loverlessness. And the loveless never find love, only the loving find love, and they never have to seek for it." Yesterday's thought becomes today's multiple thoughts, and tomorrows reality, manifestation, and facts. Whatcha thinking NOW that you shouldn't? Do you have a goal and prupsoe in mind? Is it good and beneficial to society as well as yourself? And are your inner thoughts matching up with that goal? In order to get THERE (where you want to be), one has to imagine that you're already there, or as Mark put it, "When you prya, BELIEVE you have RECEIVED>" In other words, live there as though there is now here, because IT IS! :-) And so too are all those negative thoughts which become a chain of destruction that will destroy you!
