There are many reasons why your nails get into a bad condition. One of the main ones is wearing acrylic nails. They look good but are extremely bad for your nails. When you have them taken off you will be shocked at the condition of your real nails. It is better not to get acrylic nails done, but if you do then always allow your nails to recover from them by leaving them without the nails or polish for a while so that they will remain healthy and strong. Here are some steps to heal your brittle and cracked nails.
Hydrate yourself: When your nails dry out they will get brittle and crack. So drinking water, lots of it, will help to make your nails less brittle. At the same time cut down drinks like soda with lots of sugar, as this substance will impede healing and also make your nails brittle.
Use oil: Soak a cotton ball in vegetable oil and rub it on your nails and cuticles 3 to 4 times a day. This will also help to hydrate your nails and keep them from getting brittle.
Use a moisturizer: Every time you do dishes or wash your hands remember to use hand lotion. You should also take care of your toe nails as brittle and cracked nails in this area are prone to infection.
Eat foods with calcium: lack of calcium can be a large factor in brittle nails. Calcium can be found in leafy green vegetables and dairy products. You can also take calcium supplements.
Biotins: Eat foods that are high in biotins. These include peanuts, lentils, and vegetables like cauliflower, egg yolks and sardines. These substances will help to heal your brittle or cracked nails.
Steps for healing thin nails:
Protect them: try to wear gloves when you are dealing with household chemicals for cleaning the house. Also wear gloves for washing dishes as liquids and chemicals will worsen your nail condition.
Keep them short: keep your nails as short as possible. This will stop them from breaking and getting damaged.
Apply a nail strengthener/hardener at night: applying one of these at night will help strengthen your nails. Applying a nail strengthener as your base coat when you paint your nails will also help.
Added protection: get an silk wrap overlay for your nails at your local salon. This will protect your nails and they will get stronger.
Nutrition: You should eat plenty of vegetables and fruits for extra minerals and biotins. In fact be careful to eat a healthy balanced diet. Good overall health will help to keep nails healthy and strong.
Steps for healing peeling nails:
Firstly understand what the cause of your peeling nails could be.
There are a variety of reasons for this problem but many times it is simply poor nutrition.
Eating a healthy balanced diet will do wonders for your nails.
Do not abuse your nails: protect them when gardening and house cleaning.
Clear any fungus infections: You will probably have to consult a doctor to get the right prescription medicines for this.
Use a quality nail strengthener: this should have vitamin E, keratin and minerals
Rub your nails and cuticles with extra virgin olive oil.
You can expect to see results from your hard work in 6 to 8 weeks. Having weak and thin peeling nails can be a bother for anyone. Do remember that your genes can also play a great part in how your nails are naturally.
