Old people must go out

Old people must go out

Dalip Singh Wasan, Advocate,

101-C Vikas Colony, Patiala-Pb.India-147001

Time has come when old people must go and take rest and they should not be put at work.  Even in politics a man who has attained age of seventy could continue till eighty provided he is medically examined each year and found fit person.  We are sorry to note that we could not prescribe age limitations for the people in politics when we have provided age limitations for those entering government service and even IAS  and IPS Officers are asked to leave the seat and give place to the new one.

Time has further come when we should see that only those be allowed to contest elections in India who are fit persons to hold portfolio of a minister, if need be and none who is not having no qualifications and is not a fit person to be appointed as a minister be allowed to contest elections.  And the people who could not show their worth, while in office during the last tenure, be allowed to contest elections and if such a course is taken only then we shall be inducting proper people in our August Houses.  The present system is faulty and we are inducting people who are just burden on the state exchequer and sit in the houses just to smile on others and vote as per directions through whips.  We need effective people in the houses and therefore, even the people must be vigilant to ensure that they elect right people.  When people start electing right people, political parties too shall be forced to give us right people.  We should not allow a person to continue in the house when he has crossed eighty years of age, in spite of his qualities.

We should make laws on these points and only then we shall be able to attract right people for taking part in elections.  All and sundries should not be allowed to join this field and had we started this system from the very beginning, we could have avoided family rule, party dictatorship and individual autocracy.

  1. And since proper people shall establish proper government, we must see that we elect proper people.

Our Government is Out of Control

By: Ralph E. Bass, Jr. | 28/12/2009
I believe our government is out of control. Is there a means to bring back our government into line with our historic American political and economic values? I believe there is if the American people will insist on a new bill of rights, or as I call this Constitutional amendment, The Bill of Freedom.

Social Security and the Impending Depletion of Funds

By: Shaneela Khan | 28/12/2009
The debate about Social Security’s depleting fund has been going on for years. Recently, analysts have begun discussing possible solutions to ensure the availability of Social Security for future generations. The Social Security Administration’s 2005 trustees report predicted massive annual deficits starting by 2017. This means that by 2017, this Administration will be putting out more money than it’s collecting through taxes. What’s even more troubling is that there’s no definite plan of actio

Social Security Announces Changes in the Digestive System Listings Criteria

By: Shaneela Khan | 28/12/2009
While making disability determinations, one of the steps Social Security goes through is to ask whether or not the claimant's condition “meets or equals a listing.” The Listings are a list of impairments that are considered severe enough to prevent a person from doing any gainful activity. Most of the listed impairments are permanent, very serious, or expected to result in death. The impairments are grouped together by the major body systems that they affect. So far, there are 14 categories of

Social Security’s New “Compassionate Allowances:” Are they Really Going to Speed up the Process?

By: Shaneela Khan | 28/12/2009
This week, Michael Astru, the Commissioner of Social Security held hearings on a “Compassionate Allowances” program. The proposed program is aiming to get children and adults with serious, rare diseases on disability benefits much faster. This is quite a change, considering the Administration has been notorious for prolonged wait periods and strict guidelines on disability determinations. The December 2007 Compassionate Allowances hearings were the first of the public outreach hearings that the
