In Bible versus Quran: Is the Lord God an Angel or a man?

This is the third article of the series: "Is The Lord God Seen or Not in Bible versus Quran?"

The Bible says that many men have seen the Lord God like Abraham and Isaac, Jacob (who saw God face to face) etc...

Not only has that, but Jacob Wrestles with God and Jacob defeated GOD.

Yet the Bible declares that No one has ever seen God at any time.

Read the articles "The Lord God is seen in Bible versus Quran" (1) and (2).

The Noble Quran says that No one can see the Almighty Creator in the life of this world; yet, only the believers will see Him in the Hereafter.

======================================================

?? In the Bible: The Lord God is Seen (3)

Jacob has seen the Lord God face to face. Not only he has that, but Jacob Wrestles with God and Jacob defeated GOD.

The Bible says:

Jacob was left alone. And a man (the Lord God) wrestled with him until the breaking of the day.

When the man (the Lord God) saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.

Then he (the Lord God) said, "Let me go, for the day has broken."

But Jacob said, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

And he (the Lord God) said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob."

Then he (the Lord God) said, "Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed."

Then Jacob asked him, "Please tell me your name." But he (the Lord God) said, "Why is it that you ask my name?" And there he blessed him.

So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying,

"For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered."

Upon reading the story of wrestling of God with Jacob, one may ask many questions as for example:

1) How can a man defeat the Lord, the Almighty Creator in a fight?

2) Why would GOD want to fight a human being anyway?

3) Why would not GOD want to Abraham instead of Jacob?

4) What kind of teaching is GOD trying to give us in Genesis 32:22-30? Is he trying to say that Israel is above the Lord God?

5) Why the Lord God said, "Let me go, for the day has broken? Is He photosensitive and could not work at day light?

6) While the Lord God was busy for all the night in wrestling with Jacob, who took care of the worlds, universes, stars and the other creatures?

7) Is God a man or an Angel? Upon telling the story of Wrestling of God versus Jacob, in which Jacob defeated God, the Bible substitutes the Lord God with "a man".  The scholars, in their interpretation, claim that Jacob wrestled with an Angel!

8) Who wrestled with Jacob, Jehovah, El-elohe, El, God Father, the Lord Jesus or the Holy Spirit?  However, He is not Allah by any means!

9) Are we allowed to marry two wives like Jacob?

10) Are we allowed to do our best to struggle with the Lord God and try to defeat Him?

11) If God when He touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh; He disjointed his hip, why He could not defeat him?

12) Just before this wresting with God, Jacob prayed; to whom he was praying if he did not know the name of his Lord God?

13) What would be the case if God tried to wrestle with Esau or Josheb-Basshebeth who were stronger than Jacob?

14) Etc…

N.B.:

It is well known that Esau was physically stronger than Jacob.

Jacob believed that Esau is the lord and he is his servant!

Jacob sent messengers ahead of him to Esau and he instructed them: "This is what you are to say to my master (my lord) Esau: 'Your servant Jacob says…. (Read Genesis 32)   Jacob was greatly afraid of Esau.

The Question is: what if God Wrestled with Esau?

On the other man, the Bible talks about a man who may be the ever stronger man in the History of mankind. This man raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter. That man's name is Josheb-Basshebeth (2 Samuel 23:8).

Again, what if God Wrestled with Josheb-Basshebeth?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

? Jacob has seen the Lord God face to face. Not only he has that, but Jacob Wrestles with God and Jacob defeated GOD.

Genesis 32:22-30

New International Version

22 That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two maidservants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.

23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions.

24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak.

25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob's hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.

26 Then the man said, "Let me go, for it is daybreak." But Jacob replied, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

27 The man asked him, "What is your name?" "Jacob," he answered.

28 Then the man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have overcome."

29 Jacob said, "Please tell me your name." But he replied, "Why do you ask my name?" Then he blessed him there.

30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared."

--------------------------------------------------------------------

? Yet, No one have ever seen the Lord God in the Bible!

Read Exodus 33:20, John 1:18 and 1 John 4:12 and read the articles "The Lord God is Seen in Bible versus Quran" (1) and (2).

======================================================

?? In the Quran: The Lord God is NOT Seen (3)

Verse 6:103

QARIB: no eye can see him, though he sees all eyes. He is the subtle, the aware.

SHAKIR: vision comprehends him not, and he comprehends (all) vision; and he is the knower of subtleties, the aware

PICKTHAL: vision comprehendeth him not, but he comprehendeth (all) vision. He is the subtile, the aware.

YUSUFALI: no vision can grasp him, but his grasp is over all vision: he is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things.

The meanings of the verse:

Vision cannot attain Him, that is, human eyes cannot see Him.

Vision cannot encompass Him; but He attains all vision, that is to say, He perceives them, whereas they cannot perceive Him; it is not possible in the case of anyone other than Him to attain all vision while vision cannot attain Him or encompass Him in knowledge.

In other words, Vision comprehends Him not in this world, nor do created beings see what He sees. Sights will not comprehend the modality of seeing Him in the Hereafter nor will created beings be able to see Him in this world.

Nevertheless, He comprehends all vision in this world and in the Hereafter: He sees that which human beings do not see and nothing escapes or is hidden from Him.

In addition, He is the Subtle in His actions whose knowledge surrounds His created beings; He is the Subtle in dealing with His servants.  He is the Aware of His created beings and their actions.

--------------------------

Scientifically speaking, In the life of this world, man is not able to see many creatures; man can not see by his naked eye the too small creatures like the bacteria and the too huge creatures like the very far giant Stars. Our eyes are incapable to see such creatures and we have to use some instruments like the microscope and telescope to see the bacteria and the very far stars respectively.

Hence, why that our eyes cannot see many of the Lord God's creatures and can see the Almighty Creator?

Nevertheless, how could the believers see the Lord in the Hereafter?

Allah will make man' sight acute, very sharp, piercing and able to perceive what man used to reject and deny in the life of this world.

However, the believers are the only people allowed to see their Lord, the Almighty Creator.

On the other hand, the disbelievers will see the Eternal Fire, the Angels of chastisement etc.

--------------------------

Conclusion: According to the teachings of the Noble Quran

1)     Anyone believes or says that the Almighty Creator is seen in the life of this world is categorized as a disbeliever, it is an unjustifiable sin.

2)     Anyone believes or says that the Almighty Creator that Jacob wrestled with the Almighty Creator is classified as a disbeliever, it is an inexcusable sin.

3)     Anyone believes or says that Jacob defeated the Almighty Creator is greatly insulting his LORD, it is an unforgivable sin.

4)     The bearer of anyone of the three above sins will dwell in the Eternal Fire.
