Mindset - It's a Terrible Thing to Waste

As I continue to search, discover and develop mindset theories I have found a book by Wallace Wattles “the science of getting rich” to be of a particular fantastic read.

In the book he lays out the usual mindset piece of discovering what you really want and as Napoleon Hill talks about using all faculties in a focused manner to continue to strive toward this “definite major purpose”.

Wattles adds another perspective in the book, in talking about which plane of thought and action we are working from.  He says that we should strive towards the creative mind and action and move away as much as possible from the competitive mind, the competitive mind and action being one that hurts or even destroys others as we move toward our ultimate achievement.

I find this of particular fascination writing this article in the 2009, near 100 years after Wattles writing of this work.  100 years later, where our world is at physical war in at least two major areas of the world involving major size armies with casualties in the thousands.

In the United States, where the auto industry as all been lost due to the lack of creative thought on many CEO’s parts.  In 2009, where the world economy continues to be tenuous at best after 2 years of massive decline with competitive action and thought leading the way.

So how does a person, like this author, think in the creative and work away from the competitive.  In some sense it feels as if I continue to think and act in the creative as Wattles describes then it will be easy to be rich sense seemingly very few others are acting that way.  On the other hand, as times are difficult, the pressure of raising a family, making the right financial moves, staying on top of the goals and dreams seems to be ever increasingly difficult.

The key action as I ascertain from Wattles, in this time or in anytime is Gratitude.  Gratitude to the all, the “thinking substance” for everything that I have, and that I will have in the future.  And to hold those thoughts on a constant basis.  Have the undying faith that everything you want will be yours in time as long as you are grateful for what you have and have experienced in the past, present and future.

So as I see myself developing over the years, I shall be grateful for everything and everyone I have in my life.  I will look forward to and acknowledge the all for bringing future items and people into my life.

I will finish with a quote from the book about the reason you should strive to get rich and dispel the thoughts of negativity about the acquisition of money being bad.

“You want to get rich in order that you may eat, drink, and be merry when it is time to do these things; in order that you may surround yourself with beautiful things, see distant lands, feed your mind, and develop your intellect; in order that you may love men and do kind things, and be able to play a good part in helping the world to find truth.”
