Social networking has become an incredibly popular online tool as recent reports show that over 51% of Americans are using social networks online. Most social networks hold the same basic operational structures. They operate on similar search tools when looking for old classmates, friends and colleagues. First, users enter a name and some characteristics. The search results display and if vague characteristics were entered, there are hundreds of results to sort through. If the search parameters were too narrow (i.e. First and Last Name), no results display. How do you handle finding someone that has moved? How do you find someone who has changed their name?
Quite frankly, you don’t. If you’re on a social network with usernames instead of full names, forget it. You could always use a free Web site thrown together in a few days on a free HTML editor! Someone looking for a lost friend or old flame could simply post an ad through a poorly designed and organized Web site into the vast World Wide Web and wait. Another option could be using Web sites designed to find people, though the invasion of privacy and the constant sales push seems a bit much when you haven’t spoken to someone in years.
Enter the new world of social networking with I Still Remember You. The reason this web site is an improvement on social networking is primarily because of the incredible chronological and geographical search tool. The tool allows users to search for anyone and find people searching for them. The reason I Still Remember You differs from regular social network searches is due to it’s capability to find people based on occurrences throughout their lives.
When users set up a profile, they have the option to provide information on meetings and encounters they remember from their past, places they’ve lived and people with whom they want to reconnect with. This allows the search system to place a pin on the home page that signals new users to the location, photo and description of people that are searching for others – maybe even the person viewing the page.
The site does not focus only on dating, either. Though the site is capable of helping members find closure or reignite old flames, it is also capable of reuniting family members, old friends and business contacts. The search tool is incredibly easy to use and visitors to the site can even see who may be searching for them prior to ever registering on the Web site.
“It really is a great advancement in social networking capabilities. We hope to expand to include all of the great features that mainstays in the business have, but this tool really is unique to our business,” said a company representative. “We’re really excited about the launch and the capabilities of our site. Our users can find someone they met twenty five years ago on a train ride between Washington D.C. and Boston or last year on the plane from Los Angeles to New York. We’ve really expanded on the networking concept by allowing our members the opportunity to really expand on any connection they’ve ever made.”
Over the coming year, expect big things from Logologic’s I Still Remember You. The site is growing quickly and planning a number of enhancements including video profiles, customized profiles and more for a 2010 final release. While the beta launch doesn’t yet include these things, they will be developed out at as part of the I Still Remember You model.
