Not only are there thousands of home based businesses out there, there are also hundreds of different scripts out there. Scripts that are business specific, personality specific, profession specific- all having different lengths, different nuances and different questions. Scripts that will cover your cold market, warm market and your lukewarm market. Which one do you choose and how do you know that the one you choose will be the best for you? Below is some script tips to help you along.
1) Start out with a script that is generic and simple. The reason behind this is two-fold. By keeping it simple you can concentrate on listening to the answers that are being given without worrying whether or not you are getting in all of the details. You can focus on what is important- your potential business partner. You also want it to be simple so that it is duplicatible. Once you have new team members start you can then introduce them to a simple, generic script too.
2) Don't reinvent the wheel. There are enough scripts out there that you can find one that works for you without writing it yourself. Sometimes you may not realize that you are using words that may turn people off or that don't flow together nicely. Use a script that has a proven track record and has proven results.
3) Realize that you will be uncomfortable at first. Whenever you are using something new it is going to feel a little awkward for a while. Your words may trip over each other or get garbled and you may get frustrated. Don't worry- within hours you will feel as if you have been using this script forever. Once you get into the groove it will feel natural, sound natural, and with practice become natural.
4) Once you pick a script stick with it for at least ninety days. If you are jumping from script to script in your home based business not only are you never getting to that natural stage but you are not giving one script enough time to see if it is going to work. It takes time to get the kinks out, to see what questions you are getting great responses to and what ones are not working for you.
5) Make sure that the script you pick digs down deep. What this means is that you want to be sure that your script covers your prospects wants, needs and goals. What do they dream about? Don't just skim over this- ask lots of questions. Remember the script is for you to find out about them not for them to find out about you. It should be able to pinpoint why they are looking for a home business, who they are as a person, and whether they have the drive, determination, and motivation to move it forward.
6) Make sure you have several voice mail scripts. You do not want to keep using the same message over and over especially if you are attempting to reach people several times. Each voice mail script should be short, to the point, and should give the person a sense of curiosity so that they call you back.
As you develop into your business and become more and more comfortable with what you are doing you will insert yourself and your personality into your scripts. You will make them your own but will still be able to use that basic simple and generic script to start out your new members. They will then take that script and turn it into something that fits them and their personality
