Ip San - Tools for Network Storage Optimization

Are you taking full advantage of your network storage? IP SAN can maximize network storage without replacing current infrastructure.

IP SAN - Application Optimization

Today one tool that is used universally by businesses both large and small is computers, and to a lesser extent networks and the internet. Computers combined with the internet represent a very important form of communication. The internet allows work to be done from any point at which there is a connection back to the office. Companies and corporations can send workers on the road to meet clients or make sales without disconnecting them from the home network. These general statements about computer should come as no surprise to the reader of this article, especially since this article is most likely being read on a computer via the internet. But as often as we use the internet and the network that it is built on we fail to take advantage of the data storage possibilities that networks offer.

IP SAN Optimization

What should come as a surprise is that most applications, especially network application are not being used to their full potential. Networks rely on the good flow of information through servers, switches, and routers. Often there are bottle necks in a network both on the internet and on internal networks which slow down the flow of information there by causing a slowdown in productivity. Many network applications require a fast connection and a smooth network to run properly. A network or network applications which do not reach full application optimization waste both time and money. If networks applications run slowly, crash, or require monitoring to make sure that items have sent then they are most likely not reaching their application optimization.

IP SAN Optimization Hardware

What to do? There exists now hardware whose sole purpose is application optimization. This hardware when connected to the network ensures the continuity and optimized utilization of web, mail and application servers, eliminating downtime from mission critical applications. Application optimization hardware such as IP SANs can manage network storage between different technologies like fibre channel and server based storage. IP SAN optimization hardware also makes sure that a server’s bandwidth is even distributed so that no single server is overloaded which often causes crashes and can bring down entire networks. By implementing an IP SAN companies can better secure their data and spread it out over a wide area. By taking advantage of the full network any single point failure will not cause data loss or network failure.

In conclusion there exists now a way to secure and optimize network storage. Do not think that resending an email multiple times, or being cut off from your messaging application is a normal thing. It might even be a clue to a bigger network or application problem that is waiting to happen down the road. Research and invest in hardware for IP SAN’s today to avoid disasters tomorrow.

Switch Selection Guide - How to Select Network Switches

By: Shaun Hummel | 10/11/2009
The network switch is a common component with most network infrastructure and as such selection of a new switch or upgrading is a key part of most network design projects. Wireless designs will have switches interfacing with access points. That will in some cases have an affect on the switch such as increased utilization, assigned switch ports, access lists, trunking, power over Ethernet wattage draw or spanning tree protocol.
